Basori Gareng

Identify himself as Gareng, one character of the famous Punakawan, Abdul Basori exploring other wayang characters for narrating his conceptual paintings.

As a Javanese, he knows well how to combine his own stories with the strength of every wayang figures to create meaningful stories.

With his more than 20 years of painting experience, Basori recently found his own fittest style, theme and object.

He has been exploring many kinds of objects to express his concepts into canvas. Woman, still life, symbols, stones, bamboo, pillow, etc, are things he used before ensure himself that using wayang character is the most perfect idea.

Telling daily life stories, social critics, irony, or even poems through wayang character also seems acceptable for art critics especially in Indonesia and some European countries. Many art collectors now waiting for his latest works.
